Homesteading: How to Live and Grow Off the Grid

Short Description:

Product Description

Everyone wants to live off the grid. You see people doing it and you think it's impossible but something that you would love to do and you're convinced that you just don't have the time or the money to pull it off when in reality it's not that far fetched of an idea and can be accomplished easily.

The things you need are readily available online or at camping supply stores, specialty and discount tool stores, and rent to own buildings or cabins from Mennonite craftsman and carpenters. With as little as $15k you can have your very own tiny house off the grid and live your dream of homesteading just like I have done.

Land is available all over the INTERNET. And most of the time the owners are so eager to sell that they are offering owner financing with a small down and monthly payments.

Some land comes with septic and wells already drilled while other land requires you to haul your own water. The price you pay for your land is gonna be determined by whether or not the land has access to utilities or not.

Some of the best places to look for land online is Craigslist while EBAY does offer great deals and auctions the sellers are kinda sketchy because you have to give a complete stranger cash, that you will probably never meet, who is usually out of state.

But with due diligence you can tell if the seller on EBAY has a bad rap from their reviews. I have personally bought land through EBAY auctions at a discount that is worth way more than what I paid for it and the seller lived in Maine.

Rent to own, NEW not used, cabins and buildings are readily available in several big cities across USA thanks to building supply companies like Weather King. You see them on the sides of roads out in the country showcasing their buildings they have already prefabricated.

With as little as $300 down and small monthly payments you can obtain a premade structure built to your design specifications. And it is built to withstand wind, rain, lions, tigers, and bears. And it usually comes with free delivery to your property if they have a dealer not to far away.

I bought 2.7 acres of land and a cabin for around $9k cash. The cabin's and building's Weather King offers are just wood shells, no drywall, no plumbing, no kitchens, no wiring, and no staircase or ladders in the lofted models.

And the only way you can add additions or to make it livable is if you pay it off. Because it's still their property until you do so.
But the good thing about rent to own buildings is the fact that if you don't like it or you want to upgrade you can tell them to come pick it up and buy a bigger model because they offer several different sizes with a lofted 12x32 being the biggest.
The tiny house movement (also known as the "small house movement") is a description for the architectural and social movement that advocates living simply in small homes. There is currently no set definition as to what constitutes as a tiny house; however, a residential structure under 500 square feet (46 m2) is generally accepted to be a tiny home.

Once you have your land and cabin your next move is going to be making it livable. And depending on the style or look and how good you are at finding used or discounted building supplies will determine your overall cost for making your cabin livable.

You will need to think about exploring options like solar electricity and solar water heating. Which we will cover next article along with simple septic systems you can use.
